Sear Restaurant Opens in Atlanta Marriott Marquis

Downtown Atlanta’s Marriott Marquis has put the finishing touches on its stunningly reimagined Sear restaurant, offering a fire-inspired American steakhouse experience through a myriad of elements such as charming décor, the freshest local and seasonal ingredients from Georgia and Alabama farms, signature craft cocktails, an open kitchen view, specialty bourbon bar and more. The eatery’s renovation included an exhaustive interior redesign and menu refresh, with Atlanta Marriott Marquis representatives eager to further increase restaurant traffic while continuing to serve both the local Atlanta community and visiting guests.

Among the local farms the Sear culinary team source from for their dishes are Thompson Farms in Dixie, Georgia (for its pasture-raised pork, certified GAP 5+); Joyce Farms in Winston Salem, North Carolina (for its all-natural “naked” chicken); Joyce Farms in Southern Georgia (for its grass-fed heritage beef, certified GAP 4); Sweet Grass Dairy in Thomasville, Georgia (for its artisan cheesemakers and farmers); Banner Butter in Atlanta (for its small-batch cultured butter makers) and Second Self Beer Company in Atlanta for its craft brewery.

Sear’s featured menu items are to include Butter-Basted Cauliflower Steak with charred poblano, capers, lime and “everything” seeds – which Sear representatives say is a dish perfect for vegetarians – in addition to Honey-Brined Pasture-Raised Pork Chop with roasted Georgia apples, rutabaga puree, apple honey vinegar gastrique and okra straws and Dry-Aged Steak served with house chimichurri steak butter.

“Sear has been a stronghold in the Atlanta community for quite some time,” states General Manager Erica Qualls-Battey. “We feel this renovation parallels the resurgence of the culinary scene in Midtown, Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods as the city of Atlanta continues to position itself as a cutting-edge culinary destination. Our talented culinarians deserve a look that matches their talent.”

The Marriott team worked tirelessly alongside recognized designer HeCho, Inc. to create a dining space for Sear that vividly brings to life a unique steakhouse atmosphere, a vision that has culminated in an open floor plan, private waiting area with nearby bar and artistic elements that include pieces by Lynx Nguyen. What’s more, patrons can enjoy a formidable lineup of signature craft cocktails in a specialty bourbon bar boasting more than 20 unique and local bourbon selections.

“This renovation has taken inspiration from John Portman’s beautiful architecture in the Atlanta Marriott Marquis,” adds Meinrad Lang III, Director of Sales and Marketing for the hotel. “Every selection in the design was hand-picked or hand-crafted with care, similar to the way the restaurant’s renowned chefs curate their dishes from scratch. We believe this will result in a perfect pairing of a fresh new menu and design aesthetic that will complement one another perfectly; indeed, the whole team is excited to share the new, modern Sear with the greater Atlanta community and beyond.”

Meanwhile, Sears’ private dining rooms have been redesigned as well, representing the aperfect backdrop for local businesses to conduct meetings while still everything the restaurant has to offer. Options range from space for an intimate reception of 25 guests to space for 85 seated guests or reception of 100.

In conclusion, Hotel Manager George Reed says about the endeavor: “I am really excited about the energy the chefs have put into Sear’s new menu, and the new selection of craft cocktails are going to enhance our lounge-esque offerings, further solidifying Atlanta Marriott Marquis as the ultimate gathering place in this beautiful city.”
