Cirque du Soleil presents Luzia

Have you seen something new on the Atlanta skyline?  Located by Atlantic Station, Cirque du Soleil is back with Luzia, a waking dream of Mexico! Cirque is back again from September 14th to November 19th, 2017, world-renowned Cirque du Soleil is here to inspire emotion and ignite the imagination. Luzia is a journey through an imaginary Mexico full of art and soul. Guests are transported from an old movie set in the ocean, a smokey dancehall & arid desert during the performance.

As always Cirque du Soleil will provide breathtaking acrobatic feats, but there’s more surprises with Luzia. They have incorporated water into their performance for the first time with a gigantic electronic machine which creates rain falling in dazzling patterns of all sorts.

The cyr wheel is performed in the falling water as a balletic duet which is both dangerous and awe-inspiring. Luiza also features Aleksei Goloborodko, a contortionist that will take your breath away.  In addition, hoop divers up the ante by performing on a treadmill, running, diving and doing somersaults.

That’s not all, there are anthropomorphic performances of every sort. There is a steel horse, tigers, people dressed in elaborate bird costumes and the star of the show is the monarch butterfly. Monarch Butterflies are featured in the performance because monarchs from North American spend the winter in Mexico. This segment in the performance gives a nod to their importance in nature.

Their wings have a distinctly beautiful black, orange & white pattern. The artist performing as the monarch is as graceful and lovely as the real thing. The wings are made of 19 foot long silk sheets.

Cirque du Soleil will only be here for a short while longer so head out to see it as soon as possible. Tickets start at $35 which is a great value for a surreal performance that will stay with you for a long time.
