On Wednesday, April 24th, the Atlanta restaurant community will once again join forces to support Open Hand’s 31st Annual Dining Out For Life event. This annual event, which boasts a lineup of over 60 participating restaurants, offers Atlantans the opportunity to indulge in their favorite dishes while also contributing to a vital cause.

Dining Out For Life is not just about enjoying great food; it’s about making a difference in the lives of others. By participating in this event, diners will be supporting meal delivery services to individuals facing nutrition-sensitive chronic diseases, at-risk youth, families, and homebound seniors across the Atlanta area.

Among the notable establishments participating this year are beloved Atlanta favorites such as Word of Mouth Restaurants, Sorella Vicina, Tiny Lou’s, and Buena Vida Tapas Bar. These restaurants, along with many others, have pledged their support to Open Hand’s mission of providing healthy and nutritious meals to those in need.

Matthew Pieper, Executive Director of Open Hand, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “Through this annual event, we witness the community coming together to support those in need of Open Hand’s healthy and nutritious meals. Dining Out For Life is a simple yet impactful way for diners to savor their favorite restaurants or venture into new culinary experiences, all while making a difference and giving back in the process.”

Since its inception in 1993, Atlanta’s culinary community has raised over $3 million in support of Open Hand’s mission. These funds have played a crucial role in furnishing healthy meals and providing nutritional education to local residents struggling with chronic illnesses or food insecurities.

Each year, thousands of supporters participate in Dining Out For Life with the understanding that participating restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds. The funds raised during this one-day event help Open Hand deliver 5,000 nutritious meals daily and support neighbors in better managing their chronic diseases and disabilities.

There are several ways individuals can support Open Hand’s mission:

  1. Donate Online: Contributions can be made to Open Hand through their website at donate.openhandatlanta.org.
  2. Connect on Social Media: Stay updated with Open Hand’s initiatives by following them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Sharing posts and spreading awareness can make a significant impact.
  3. Dine Out or Order Takeout: Simply enjoying a meal out or ordering takeout from participating restaurants on April 24th contributes to the cause.

As Atlantans prepare for this year’s Dining Out For Life event, they have the opportunity to not only indulge in delicious cuisine but also to make a meaningful difference in their community. By supporting Open Hand, they are ensuring that nutritious meals reach those who need them most, fostering health and well-being for all.
