I’m quite sure we all are aware of the professional men’s tennis tournament that has been in existence since 2010 and played around summer period in the Atlanta area. This year’s tournament, however, took a different turn, and for the first time in seven years, a non-American went home with the grand slam by drafting the three-time champion John Isner.
When Isner came in, it was with a 15-match winning streak on the line, and had claimed Victory over Taylor Fritz, Adrain Mannario and the one-time semi-finalist Opelka Reilly.
Making his inaugural Atlanta appearance, the 21- year old began making a move for his second career title, and he was able to achieve this after defeating a fellow ATP, Jared Donaldson and the Spaniard Fernando Verdasco who just made his first visit to Atlanta.
Verdasco was able to push the Australian Open quarterfinalist to a point where almost defeated kyrgios, but he later came around and won three sets. Kyrgios moved on to semi-final to face Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan.
Eventually, the week ended with the popular Argentinians, Horacio Zeballos and Andres Molteni that captured the 2016 doubles title, to defeat Andreas Siljestrom and Johan Brunstom of Sweden.
From their first tournament as a team, it was gathered that Zaballos and Molteni only dropped a set on their way to the final round, as they were defeated by Divij Sharan and Purav Raja in the semi-finals.
The Argentine star was able to drop raindrops to shine after one hour and 30 minutes. In his second doubles final, Molteni was able to clinch his first ATP world tour title, and Zeballos claimed his first crown on hard courts and his fifth career doubles.
