The Renaissance Orchestra is set to energize Atlanta’s music scene with Up the Score, a one-night-only concert on May 30 at Center Stage. Led by founder and visionary Tyrone “OG” Bowie, the Atlanta-based ensemble fuses classical instrumentation with the rhythms of hip-hop, R&B, and modern production—creating a sound that honors tradition while boldly reinventing it.

“This isn’t just music—it’s personal,” says Bowie. “Up the Score is a cultural remix, where the orchestra doesn’t just play—it speaks to the stories, energy, and excellence of Black artistry. We’re pushing the boundaries of what classical music can be—and who it can speak to.”

This special performance will transform the classical concert experience into an immersive cultural event. Audiences can expect string sections layered with hip-hop beats, orchestral flourishes infused with R&B soul, and original compositions remixed like samples in a producer’s studio. The evening invites listeners to leave behind expectations of tuxedos and quiet applause, embracing a space where classical music meets contemporary culture.

Joining The Renaissance Orchestra are two groundbreaking artists at the forefront of this musical movement: violinist, producer, and composer Michael Prince, and celebrated pianist and composer BLKBOK.

Prince, a Houston native, is renowned for his genre-blending style that seamlessly merges classical, hip-hop, jazz, and pop. With collaborations that include Jon Batiste, T-Pain, A$AP Rocky, Timbaland, and LaRussell, he brings an electrifying, collaborative energy to the stage—bridging generations and genres.

Also featured is BLKBOK, a Detroit-born, classically trained piano prodigy who fuses classical technique with the soul of modern Black music. After touring with global icons like Justin Timberlake and Rihanna, BLKBOK has launched a solo career redefining what it means to be a contemporary classical artist. His performances are cinematic, emotionally resonant, and socially conscious.

Produced by The Renaissance Orchestra, Up the Score is one of the most anticipated cultural events of the season. It’s more than a concert—it’s a statement, an invitation, and a sonic experiment that bridges the past, present, and future of music.
