Jeffrey Fashion Cares in Atlanta
On Monday, August 27th, the 26th annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares event took place at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead Atlanta. The charity event was created by Jeffrey Kalinsky who owns a boutique chain with stores in both Atlanta and Manhattan. He will soon be setting up shop in Palo Alto as well.Kalinsky started out as a shoe buyer and then began opening boutiques in New York’s Meatpacking district and Atlanta during the 90’s. He also revitalized Nordstrom’s merchandising as their vice president and fashion director.
It was in 2003 that he established the Jeffrey Cares organization to give to philanthropic foundations. This year’s affair was hosted by Lila Hertz, Jeffrey McQuithy and Louise Sams and sponsored by Phipps Plaza, Nordstrom, Blue Sky Agency, Jeffrey Atlanta and New York, MAGNUM Co. and The Tavern at Phipps. It featured a cocktail reception, live auction (for a day safari in South Africa, a private jet and tickets to the US Tennis Open and jewelry by Eva Zuckerman) and a runway show. A number of different designers were featured in the show (Celine, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Calvin Klein, Dries Van Noten, Sacai, Saint Laurent Paris, Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik). The money raised benefited Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta, the Atlanta AIDS Fund and the Medical University of South Carolina. In 2017, over $750,000 were raised and during the past 26 years, $15 million have been collected in total.
More information can be found at jeffreyfashioncares.com. Jeffrey has also predicted what he thinks will be on trend for Fall 2018. From the shows presented, he has noted that it’s not about seasonal movements as much as fashion continually changing and men’s and women’s clothing being shown together. Empowerment is the word he used to describe where the trends are headed. Femininity in all shapes and sizes, sharp shoulder outerwear, shimmery colors and also athletics were infused into this round of runway showings.
