Hoyles Kitchen and Bar is a family owned business that was first established by Hoyle Ivey in the heart of Marietta, Georgia in 1833. Hoyle founded the farm to retail establishment in order to give food lovers a place to enjoy good food and share passionate times with their friends and family. Hoyles Kitchen and Bar now acts as a tribute to the family’s history of passion for both food and fun. The location replaces music scene 120 Tavern and Music Hall, which closed not long ago.
The menu is certainly one that is full of flavour with a southern twist.
A friend and I decided to get dinner and watch the football game a few weeks ago. We started with a few drinks. My friends ordered the Strawberry Frose which consists of frozen rose wine, fresh squeezed lemon juice, orange liquor and strawberry puree. The drinks are uniqule; I haven’t seen any restaurants in Marietta offering this drink. It’s very sweet; the strawberries puree blends well with the wine taste. I ordered the Marietta Mule which is a twist on the Moscow Mule. It consists of vodka, fresh lime juice and ginger beer. This drink is a must-have and very refreshing.
For the appetizers, I decided to go for the mouth-watering Bacon Mac ‘N’ Cheese Spring rolls which were full of tasty bacon and melted cheese and topped with tavern source to add that extra bit of flavour to what seems to be a simple but delicious appetizer.
Following that, I opted for Beef Brisket Nachos – an excellent choice full of a mixture of flavours that complement each other very well. It consisted of shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, cilantro, guacamole, chipotle, BBQ aioli, and finally was covered with smoked Gouda cheese sauce.
Another delicious option that I chose was the Bayou Mac ‘N’ Cheese; I guess you can never have enough of cheese in my opinion. It was made of blackened shrimp, Tasso ham, pasta shells and mixed with a creamy cheese blend with Gouda cheese sauce.
Now to the delicious main meal, the Southern Burger, which was made of woven bacon topped with home-made pimento cheese, pickled jalapenos and crispy lettuce. It truly reminded me of a similar burger that I had tasted at the Augusta National at the Masters.
Dessert was Amazing!! White Chocolate Bread Pudding; this dessert seemed basic at first. However, it had a lovely creamy taste and was something that I definitely enjoyed. The pudding was offered with a side of creamy vanilla ice cream and a sliced strawberry to complement the different textures and tastes.
Overall my experience at Hoyles Kitchen and Bar was enjoyable and a must try for all food lovers!
