DOT, a Los Angeles based vocalist, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and the founder of Unspeakable Records is releasing a new EP on June 21st.

The EP is titled ‘Atomic Age’ and is already making a splash courtesy of the new single “Higher Higher” released beforehand. DOT has made a name for herself by not only building a career worth noting but working with some of the biggest artists of this generation, such as SZA, Teri GenderBender, and Nora Rothman.

As a world traveler, DOT has allowed her music sensibilities to be influenced by what she has seen and heard.

Many people know her as DOT, but her real name is Kate Ellwanger. She says she has evolved as an artist and a person, which has influenced the way she produces art. Ellwanger says that “over the past two years, I downsized a lot of physical belongings, and have been making music from a backpack-sized recording setup while traveling around.”

Her newfound appreciation for minimalism and her travels allowed Ellwanger to produce a single that is complex and understated. “Higher Higher” seems to be existing on a plane of its own, where it is allowed to be otherwordly and unforgettable.

Ellwanger used digitally synthesized sounds, live instruments, and her own vocals to bring this single and album to life. The challenges she faced recording from a small studio definitely forced her to embrace different ways of doing things, but that makes music creation fun for her.

DOT has been featured in Pitchfork, LA Weekly, Okayfuture, MTV Brazil, Nest HQ, The 405, Nylon, Red Bull, Ableton, and BBC Radio 1xtra, just to name a few. DOT is no doubt influential. She is the founder of Unspeakable Records, which is an all-female label, and she is a trailblazer.

The single is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes, and her EP is on its way on June 21st through her label.
