Although Micro hotels are an accommodation style that has been in existence for ages, it only recently started evolving from the tiny rooms that are only good for sleeping to a new brand of small amazing lodgings that emphasize nice design and plush perks as a way of attracting sojourners.
With a recent influx of micro hotels in New York, and more established brands seeking to establish new properties, New York is certainly getting a redefinition of Micro hotels. Here are some of the emerging Micro hotels in NYC that I’ve come across;

Arlo Hotels
Arlo only recently made a break into the New York hotel market with the debut of Arlo Soho last year which has 325 rooms. None of the 325 rooms is larger than 350 square ft. Arlo Nomad was built later in the same year with 250 hotel rooms that all have their sizes under 350 square ft. These are not just uninteresting sleeping quarters, rooms are well equipped with luxurious beds, walnut furniture and great features. What’s interesting about this accommodation brand is its continuous quest to offset its small rooms with a bevy of sophisticated amenities.

Moxy Hotels
While the New York City-based hotel is not completely under the category of micro, it does offer rooms whose affordability places on the tiny end of the spectrum.
The hotel itself has serious designs and offer great amenities ranging from; flexible furnishings, huge showers, and other plush amenities.
Most interesting among these hotels that I know of is Pod-51

Pod-51 Hotel
Pod-51 hotel is an accommodation alternative that has redefined the idea of single private rooms being equipped with facilities that are not really needed, into an accommodation brand that is focused instead on basic necessities such as sleep, bath combined with interesting necessary amenities to provide an amazing accommodation for travelers at the lowest prices.I used to think that the only thing that can be done in Pod-51 hotel is just to sleep, but when I visited, I discovered that it was not just about sleep, but it helped open my eyes to all the things I never knew about New York City.

POD 51, was started in 2005 with a view to change the popular narratives of vacation and adventure. The popular belief system that many people love New York and want to visit, but only a few people can afford it was the motivation behind the creation of POD 51. The hotel was built by innovative entrepreneurs who understand that guests were savvy enough to know what their needs are and what they don’t need. A full renovation of the hotel was run in 2016, to satisfy the numerous needs of guests.

During my stay at Pod51, I did not just have a cool stay, I had an awesome experience. The rooms are compact but very clean, staffs were friendly and helpful, with a lovely breakfast cafe, happy hour drinks that’s a good start to any evening and in a nice location. Interesting is that they offered all these at a great price.
