The Atlanta Dream are gearing up for a record-breaking showdown as they face the Indiana Fever for the second time this season at State Farm Arena on Monday, Aug. 26, at 7:30 p.m. After drawing a record-setting crowd of 17,575 in their previous matchup, the Dream are poised to surpass that mark once again. The game will be highlighted by a special halftime performance from the legendary Atlanta hip hop group, Goodie Mob. Additionally, members of the iconic 1996 USA Women’s Basketball Olympic Team, who won gold in Atlanta, will be honored in a special tribute.
“The energy in State Farm Arena was absolutely incredible earlier this season, and we’re excited to take it even higher with another record-breaking crowd,” said Atlanta Dream President and COO Morgan Shaw Parker. “This evening will be a celebration of Atlanta like only the Dream can deliver, featuring the first-ever WNBA halftime performance by Atlanta’s own Goodie Mob. We’re also deeply honored to welcome back members of the ‘96 Women’s Olympic Team, whose gold medal run here in Atlanta paved the way for the creation of the WNBA. Their legacy is one we proudly uphold.”
This much-anticipated rematch will showcase some of the WNBA’s brightest talents, including the last three No. 1 overall draft picks: Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark (Fever), and Rhyne Howard (Dream), who will be returning to the court after missing the first game due to injury. The Dream’s own Allisha Gray, who made history as the first player to win both the Skills Challenge and 3-Point Contest during the same WNBA All-Star weekend, will also be a key player to watch.
The game will not only highlight the current stars of the WNBA but will also pay homage to the trailblazing 1996 USA Women’s Basketball Olympic Team. Known as the Women’s Dream Team, they claimed the Gold Medal in Atlanta, avenging their bronze finish from the previous Olympics. The team, which featured six Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductees, played a crucial role in the establishment of the WNBA. Several team members, including Dawn Staley, Val Ackerman, and Ruthie Bolton, are expected to participate in the tribute.
Tickets for this historic game are available through Ticketmaster at dream.wnba.com, and with demand high, they are expected to sell out quickly. Limited standing-room-only tickets remain.
The game will be broadcast live on Gray TV’s CBS affiliate WANF (Atlanta News First), Peachtree TV (WPCH), and Peachtree Sports Network, with Angel Gray, LaChina Robinson, and Tabitha Turner providing commentary. Sports Radio 92-9 The Game will also air the game, featuring Mike Conti on the call.
