In the 2024 WNBA Draft, the Atlanta Dream made strategic selections, securing forward Nyadiew Puoch with the 12th overall pick, guard Isobel Borlase at No. 20 (second round), and guard Matilde Villa at No. 32 (third round) on Monday night.

Coach Wright expressed his excitement about the acquisitions, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome these talented young players to our team. Their potential is evident, and we’re eager to see them develop and contribute to our future success.”

Nyadiew Puoch, a standout at 6’3”, arrives from the Southside Flyers in Australia, fresh off a championship win. With notable FIBA experience, Puoch brings athleticism and versatility to the Dream, having showcased her skills on the international stage.

Described as “a long athletic wing” by General Manager Padover, Puoch’s energy and potential at just 19 years old signal a promising addition to the team.

Isobel Borlase, known as “Izzy,” joins the Dream following a standout season with the Adelaide Lightning, where she earned accolades as an All-WNBL First Team selection. With a strong presence on both the professional and international fronts, Borlase adds depth and skill to the Dream’s roster.

According to Padover, Borlase’s toughness and evolving game make her an exciting prospect for the team’s future.

Matilde Villa, selected at No. 32, brings her talents from Umana Reyer Venezia in Italy. With impressive numbers in Serie A1 and international experience with the Italian Senior Basketball team, Villa offers playmaking ability and court vision to the Dream.

Padover highlighted Villa’s facilitation skills and international experience, underscoring her potential impact on the team’s dynamic.

With Puoch, Borlase, and Villa on board, the Atlanta Dream looks forward to a promising future, leveraging the talents of these young players to elevate their competitiveness in the WNBA.
